Fourteen of the 22 winners are cars that have been introduced or significantly redesigned in the last three years, demonstrating that newer models offer good long-term value, and with the freshest technology and styling, they're more fun to own.
Ford took home the most awards, with five of its models selected as winners in six categories. Ford wins include the Ford Taurus, Ford Fusion, Ford Fiesta, Ford Edge and Ford Fusion Hybrid. Chevrolet and Mazda took home three awards each.
You do not have to choose between a great car and a great value. The 2012 U.S. News Best Cars for the Money Awards highlight cars, trucks, SUVs and minivans that are both easy to live with and easy to afford.
Must-See on MSN
This survey is an abolutely JOKE. What did U.S. News & World Report do ? Throw darts on the wall and pick the winners. Pretty much a worthless article.
By the way, take a look at the most recent top 10 sales numbers for 2012. So funny, what are the two top car sellers this year ? Toyota Camry and Nissan Altima. U.S. News & World Report must of forgot to put them on the dart board.
If GM didn't have China car sales to thank, they would be in the DUMPS. Ford with the best Hybrid Car..Lok at their sales compaired to Toyota's. What, is Ford giving them away free ?
Fords sales of Hybrid Cars is not even 10% of what Toyotas are..
Come on...I can't stop laughing after reading this
Wow! We have American's leaving comments here that don't know realize that "are" is actually spelt "our" when used in the context "are country is the best..." Please... if you can't spell or know when or how to use OUR language, just stop typing and stop talking. You ARE a disgrace.
To the guy who says that "dipwitted Americans" are the one's that are ruining the American car manufacturers sales... you sir... are the IDIOT.
The shitty quality product that American car manufacturers put their brand and our countries name on... is what gave them the reputation they have. It's pretty simple... us American's are actually quite intelligent. Why would we spend our hard earned money on something that will likely have have problems sooner then later. How can we get to work on time if our car's leave us stranded to make the money to pay for them or the repair bills? It's not worth it... regardless of where it is or isn't produced.
The foreign car manufacturers employ MANY American's. Don't you see that? Toyota is everywhere and a huge sponsor of many events right here in America. You know what that is... that's a whole lot of money invested in OUR country and a whole lot of jobs that are the result of that.
You should thank them!
Here is my theory.. you have greedy, union paid employees that could care less about QDR because they get paid no matter what and work toward a retirement plan. NOT toward designing, developing, producing and assembling the best product that they can. The manufacturers cut cost wherever possible to increase the profit margins. Well... you get what you pay for. And it shows. It's not rocket science.
last i knew no one from the bush administration took jets and flew them into the WTC and the pentagon.... also last i looked we are more in dept then we were 4 years ago.... democrats need to give up the whole "its bush's fault" crap now; clearly they cant do any better. 2012 is predicted to be the worst year for foreclosures since the great depression btw.
its sad no matter what we dont have a strong person running for office on either side. just whoever wins i hope they can honestly do something to help the country come out of dept for once. so much talk and not enough action, the whole political disagreements need to stop and both sides need to unite to strengthen america. way to many hard headed fools.
The BUSH ADMINISTRATION in the name of Fighting Terrorism has done more damage to the United States & American Quality of Life than all Terrorists or all Museums Nations Could ever have dreamed of!
“The rich must create jobs for the poor, or else the poor must steal!"
think some people are just really blind and stuck in the old ways. totally agree the optima is the best of its class since i own one also. i put in well over 200 hours of research before i bought my car and test drove as many as i could as i am stationed overseas and they dont have every model car out here. had to be a creeper and leave people notes on their cars asking if i could test drive it in the base parking lot haha.
switched my emblems (bc the kia emblem does suck; they need to redo it) and at least twice a week i have people asking what it is and how much it cost. normally i let them drive it around base before i even tell them what it is; then they are completely blown away, and even more so when i tell them the price i paid. infact, i have had some people try and buy my car for 35,000 (7,000 more then i paid for it) out here since they dont sell the proper SX overseas. maybe if someone offered 40,000 i would do it haha.
Did I mention kia is made in Georgia!! Sure it is A korean car but so what get over it. looked at all mid size before I bought the kia and it was the best for the money by far!! If you haven't looked around lately not much manufactured here anymore which is sad!! I work in aircraft manufacturing and the obama administration has not been our friend at all!! which is funny because they use air force 1 for everything business or not so I think the made in america gripe is dead!! till corporate greed is dealt with!!
those that say "BUY AMERICAN"..... here is a little fun fact; most foreign cars has a larger overall % that is made in the US these days then the "american vehicles". research it yourself. most parts are made elsewhere and even 1/2 assembled elsewhere and then just imported to the US. the korea and japan companies have been expanding their factories in the US to build models here for the last 5-10 years.
also how about the american companies start getting up to par with the others. most american cars have outdated engines and electronics compared to those foreign companies. and lets not start talking about the handling. europe and japan really own that area by far!
i love america and proudly serve my country but i choose to buy the best product... america does not make anything close to that by far when you talk about cars.
and optima is better then the ford fusion also. the SX has more HP, gets better gas mileage and more toys for cheaper. also with the 10 year warranty. much better for what you get with your money. this poll is just one sided and stuck with most american cars. its sad to say but in reality most american models fail to foreign ones when you talk about what you get for the price. next time the poll should be done by people that know cars instead of a news company that decided the winners without any knowledge of whats out there. fusion would rate about 6th if they looked at all of the possible models.
i put this challenge out to anyone; go test drive the top model 2012 fusion and a 2012 optima SX with an open mind.... if you still want a fusion over an optima i would be surprised. kia isnt the same company it used to be. guess it happens when you bring in audi designers to revamp your company. or you can just sit there and be bitter bc i have a better looking and faster car with more gadgets then your fusion with the ugliest grill i have ever seen on a car. its a truck grill!
