I think that regardless of what any "expert" says about reliability, most people's opinions are based on their own personal experiences with a specific brand or model. If a person is loyal to a certain brand, the are likely to be more forgiving of that brand's reliability or quality issues. Though any manufacturer can occasionally produce a lemon, I believe reliability is determined mostly by how the car is driven and maintained, no matter what brand it is. Almost any modern vehicle, domestic or foreign, will easily run 200K miles or more if it is not abused and is properly maintained.

What a crappy article. The most reliable is a totally subjective issue. It depends on whose driving them and who is the pickiest about things. I don't care how much you folks make from foreign car companies, their cars are not better than American made ones. I've owned a car from every maker you mentioned and prefer American made cars. If people would quit feeling so guilty about buying foreign cars maybe you could quit defending them. Real Americans buy American. Stop buying foreign cars and come back to support your own economy.
