While the "expertise" of the writer of this article is questionable at best, I can at least say the writer has good taste for a few (not all!) vehicles listed here. The Audi is exquisite, and those Coopers are captivating. But the big winner is: BMW!! Wow! Those BMW's are beautifully refined and outstanding! Winning cars that are truly in a class by themselves! No one else on this list comes even close. I go with the best, and that is BMW. That is why I drive one!

@dogfartX... like I stated, let's see what consumers have to say about the 2012 models in two to three years, there could be some problems or recalls, just like toyota's latest recall of over half a million cars... we can expect anything, but reality (were real people live) is the actual truth... when I was younger I expected a giant ****, but the reality of the situation is that it didn't happen... I expected to play golf like tiger woods, but it didn't happen... you can expect the world, but then reality sets in... now stop living in your fantasy cyber-world and turn the computer off... that is all!!!

@RockHefster
You are making wild assumptions about the purpose of the article, which you admit you did not read. The first sentence of the article answers your questions. "An important measure of a vehicle's value — and appeal — is what it's expected to be worth three and five years down the road."

@Ricers (racist),
To be exact, according to the NHTSA's website, GM leads all brands with 9 recalls since last September, then Ford with 6, then Chrysler with 3, then Toyota with 2.
This latest Toyota recall is for sticky switches in a stop light, and a cable issue in a steering column, not exactly the caliber of recalls that GM has been having, for example: brake pads missing from brand new vehicles leaving the factory, steering wheels coming off while driving, tires wearing through brake lines, wheels falling off while driving. Which sort of recall from the above list would you rather have???

I have not read the article... but I wonder, why would you be worried about the resale value of a 2012 car???? We have not even finished the FIRST FRIGGIN' QUARTER of 2012 and MSN is already writing this "article"??? The only way you could be selling a 2012 model is if you have already paid it off in full, otherwise you will lose money... how do we know that these cars are reliable? Ask again in two years, three years and five years and see how consumers feel about the cars. This seems to be a BULLSCHIESTE article, probably sponsered by one of the carmakers... so really this is just advertising on MSN selling cars. DON"T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ< especially on MSN, Yahoo or Shine... they have monkeys on the keyboards spewing this crap!!!
