After owning 6 dealerships (as a majority or minority stockholder), I can tell you that after 35 years in the business, I've learned that buyers (across the board- economy or luxury) pay very LITTLE ATTENTION to these awards. Contrary to Kiplengers belief , their "opinions" mean very little and have virtually no impact on a buyers decision to buy a particular brand,or model. People recognize these awards are no more than an needed "ego stroke" for the mfrs.

There are plenty of good American cars. Don't be a snob. Ford has excellent quality and most of the dollars stay in the US. I am peeved that they buy some foreign parts. But overall, more net dollars for the US economy. We have a 14 year old Mercury that is just starting to really get tired out. But it still runs. We have owned over 100 Mercury and Ford cars and trucks over the years. Most have been reliable, safe and economical. We have a Ford pick-up with over 100,000 miles on it and it runs perfectly. We have 3 Mercury Mariners, all running great!

@hwat... Your not a stickler, your a moron! The very idea that Ford would let that car leave the factory with such a noticeable flaw is ridiculous. Did it ever occur to you that it could have been a bad repair? go to a showroom and check the build quality before you run your mouth. As for you comparing Ford with General Motors, that's like comparing you to someone with brains, Mike Rowe speaks for Ford, I guess you speak for Japan!
