Know some folks who bought Dodge Grand Caravans.  The only one who made out was the car dealer who got it off his lot into the hands of the  unsuspecting suckers who bought them.

the nissan is the only surprise to me.

audi and bmw have always had checkered reliability records, but bmw tends to do a bit better. it's as if audi took decades to figure out how to make cars for the north american climate.

for either mostly it depends on the model and year.

any of the early c. 1999-2003 beetles are notorious for reliability problems, especially electrical problems that will leave you wondering, 'what the heck is wrong with this thing???'

porsche has good reliability but repairs are expensive, even compared to this crew.

jeep and chrysler, well mercedes sold off their interest in chrysler  because they didn't want their brand associated with substandard chrysler products.

Maybe there is something to be said that less is more.  All those cars have a  serious amount of technolgy in them, and maybe in this case less is more.

This article touched a nerve with many readers. Thus, let's talk about which cars are the best to own...for sure , I don't plan to buy another VW since my Jetta has been a disappointment, and my Chevy Trailblazer has seen its nightmares. I am ready to shop for a new car and would like to hear some recommendations.

I agree with those that question the author on this one. If you check some of the cars he mentions like the Q5 and the 911, both have very high marks by JD Power and even MSN. The Q5 has all 5's for the Overall Ratings and the 911 has only one rating of 4 stars with the rest 5 Stars. Also, no difference between a 2006 -2008 Porsche. All the same series. Did the author do any research or just come up with a list.?Only a few of the cars on the list (Jaguar) match anything I've read or experienced through friends who have owned the cars. For example, I have friends with both the Mini and the BMW 335i and they love them and have had no problems. Sorry, I don't think this guy knows what he's talking about.

If this is a product of "Consumer Reports" I'll take it with more than a grain of salt and a double Scotch.  I find little credible in their reporting but I do find a great deal of bias.

The only one I can disagree on is the 06 911 I had one for 5 years and 89K miles without a mechanical issue. I traded it for a 2012 Chevy Camero that's been in the shop twice already. Ya gotta wonder??
