SEE they are lying again my guess is that we will in the future no longer be driving at all. i spose public transit will be are only way around this land being that we a will all be confined to the cities wow! sounds far fetched that was before we found out that ciggerttes cause cancer, we used to burn our garbage smoke now the global warming climate change thing takes top priority some day they will say that. Right now they are just making it harder to drive around through costs etc,but sooner or later we will be at the stop light forever,

You say v2v and v2x communication won't be available from Ford until the end of the decade. What is taking so long? The US DOT says it could end 80% of crashes. We had 33K traffic deaths last year. And AAA says we spent $300 BILLION on crashes last year.
Today, I read on MotorTrend that Daimler will include V2V and V2X comms on its E-Class Mercedes to be introduced in January 2013. Ford better speed up their timeline if they want to keep up.

Most of this technology is just a complete distraction. Once it's implemented, people will pay more attention to the various (and overwhelming) features rather than the road itself. In order to make driving safer, we need to think beyond how a human interacts with technology. Let's focus on making the computer strong enough to do the work. The human brain can't focus on 10,000 different things happening all at once in their vehicle... Sometimes keeping things simple is the most efficient method. (Oh, and how expensive will this end up being. There are so many loopholes that prevent us from evolving technologically. [Like the monetary system.] Look up Jacque Fresco. He'll explain what I'm talking about... But seriously, though, this vehicle will cost $50,000+ and think about all of the people who can't afford that. It's basically useless, just like FaceTime on an iPod touch.)

i can see pedestrians by myself, i don't need my car talking to another one, i don't need radar because i have this cool evolutionary thing called eyes. give me a comfy good-sized car that looks nice, sounds nice, and gets me from A to B with as little gas as possible. if you can give me an SUV with all of these special add-on things starting at $20k then go for it, but i know it will start at more like $40k.
