I have always wished someone would have intermittent windshield washers so when you are driving in the salt and slop up north your washer would come on and clean the windshield.

How about a heated steering wheel to go with the turning headlights.

I have to say that I disagree with the writer on almost every item.  But most especially regarding headlights that aim in the direction of the wheels.  I don't know what your driving but personally, I would and do enjoy most of the features that you said were worthless.

The one I find absolutely useless is the little light telling me that I have no traction.

Sorry... but if my car is skidding on ice or water.... 1) I already KNOW that.... and 2) I don't need any flashing lights distracting me!

Who is this Luddite?  This is 2012, not 1912.

How about a steering wheel that can sense the intelligence of the driver through his or her hands?  Let's face it, too many people are challenged, or even intimidated when they get behind the wheel.  Smart cars?  Makes about as much sense as smart phones.  Too many people expect technology to do their work for them.  I think the biggest addition to a vehicle would be a sensor to make a car stop at a red light or a stop sign.  Right turns on red?  Biggest mistake in the history of driving.

I have a Vovlo XC90 and love the turning headlights.  I think that they work great and are a very safe option.

They give us all kinds of nonsense, everything except whats really important - good fuel efficiency & a simple vehicle. These fancy technology is practically useless but adds to the cost of parts & maintenance,  not to mention that it keeps our umbilical cord attached to the dealership.

Now, if they'd only invent a gadget that would turn on your headlights when the wipers come on.

Too many people drive around in the rain with their headlights off.
